It was truly a weekend to remember. Fans gathered from all over the globe in Anaham to see what be unveiled about our favorite space opera.

Many of us were expecting something huge from the Kathleen Kennedy and J.J Abrams panel, and got something huge in the second teaser trailer.

What we weren't expecting was the short teaser that was shown at the Gareth Edwards panel that took us all by surprise. However, many other things were brought to light during this panel

One thing worth noting is that what we've been calling the "spin-offs," "standalone" films, or "non-chapter" films will be referred to as Star Wars Anthology films. Each Anthology film will focus on more than just the main characters from the chapter films. Of course, the first will be Rogue One directed by Gareth Edwards. The Anthology film after it, as of yet unannounced, was supposed to be directed by Josh Trank of Chronicle and Fantastic Four(2015) fame. However, it was announced that Trank has since left the project.

The story to Rogue One will take place between Episodes III and IV and involve a renegade team of rebel soldiers as they try to steal the Death Star plans. This has been conveyed many times in comics and video games, but this will be the new canon's version of the story. Kathleen Kennedy said that she is aware that this time period is territory currently being mined for stories in the animated Star Wars Rebels, and implied that the two may or may not cross paths.

During the panel, Director Garth Edwards cited many famous war films such as Saving Private Ryan, Black Hawk Down, and Zero Dark Thirty to imply that it will be a war film.  The film will portay the harsh realities of war. He also revealed that the only confirmed actor for the film, Felicity Jones, will be a rebel soldier.

If you're interested to see how Edwards might portray war in a Sci-Fi setting, look no further than his 2014 film Godzilla, which has a heavy military presence.

No, this will not be a fetish movie, but Edwards did say that the film would explore the more gray sides of war. Meaning that we could finally get a film where we see the good side of the Empire. We also may see the dark side of the Rebellion, and what kind of sacrifices they may be willing to make to ensure the success of such a crucial mission. This is good news for Imperial sympathizers and fans of ambiguity in storytelling in general.

Edwards also revealed that given the time period, there will be no Jedi coming to save the day for our heroes. Since Obi-Wan's Episode IV dialogue, "For over a thousand generations the Jedi Knights were the guardians of peace and justice in the old Republic. Before the Dark Times, before the Empire" was featured in the trailer, this will be a huge shadow over the film. There will be no powered up hero to save them.

Although, they never said anything about there being no Sith. Since this is before A New Hope, it is likely that we could see Darth Vader and what a reveal that would be for unknowing audiences.
