According to The Hollywood Reporter, the seven-episode after-show will launch alongside the second season of Stranger Things, featuring the cast and members of the creative team as they break down the show’s twist and turns and share behind the scenes details. Not unlike AMC’s post-zombie weekly after-show.
It’ll be hosted by Community alum (and Stranger Things super fan) Jim Rash. One tweak to the formula?
The show won’t start playing until after the Season 2 finale, so basically Netflix wants you to binge Stranger Things 2, then all of Beyond Stranger Things.
It marks Netflix’s first after-show, and it’ll be interesting to see how fans receive it on the streaming format.
The guest list for the show is extensive: Series creators Ross and Matt Duffer, executive producer and director Shawn Levy, Millie Bobby Brown, Sean Astin, Linnea Berthelsen, Natalia Dyer, Brett Gelman, David Harbour, Randy Havens, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Dacre Montgomery, Paul Reiser, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink and Finn Wolfhard.
All those Stranger Things alums will be gathering around a kitchen table set for a roundtable chat, complete with a game of Dungeons and Dragons at the center.
It looks to be a fun format (and is just as cool as it sounds) to shake up a style of show that is quickly getting overplayed, with everything from Game of Thrones, to Bates Motel, and Orphan Black getting after-shows in recent seasons.
Do you think we’re reaching the Stranger Things (and after-show) tipping point, or are you game to devour an extra few hours breaking down all the freaky details?
