According to Trek Movie, the third installment of the Star Trek film franchise will be title, "Star Trek Beyond."
The title has already "been registered with the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), a step that typically signifies a title has been settled on for an upcoming movie."
Though they could have registered the name as the title the production will use during filming. So essentially, you can call it a "working" title. The site claims that based on Bad Robot's track record of secrecy and such, the whole Star Trek Beyond could also be a decoy. But i don't know about you guys, but I actually like the name Star Trek Beyond.
It fits well with what they're trying to do with the new Star Trek movie. It fits with the emphasize of what there trying to capture with this film, venturing off into deep space and exploration.
And also in a interview with MTV, the Pegg teased Idris Elba’s supposed villainous "kick-ass" role. And emphasized on the fact that they are expanding the universe in the third installment.
"It will be [an original character], yes. This is the five-year mission now, we’re out there. We don’t always have to keep bumping into the same people...It's a massive universe. So we’re gonna try and reflect that in the movie."
Star Trek 3 is expected to hit theaters on July 8, 2016.
