The next “Star Wars” anthology movie due in 2018 that recently lost director Josh Trank will reportedly be a Boba Fett origin story, The Wrap has learned.
The project will reportedly be a Boba Fett movie, centering on the fan-favorite intergalactic bounty hunter. The report calls the movie a “Boba Fett origin movie,” but since Star Wars: Episode II — Attack of the Clones is technically Boba Fett’s origin movie, we’re not comfortable calling it that until we hear something official.
But it does make sense that LucasFilms would want to do a Boba Fett film since of the popularity of the character. I mean, ever since these Anthology films were announced, Boba Fett was rumored as the topic of one of these movies.
So assuming this new report is accurate and it is a origin, it’s likely that the new film will update us on early Boba Fett adventures taking place somewhere between Attack of the Clones and The Empire Strikes Back.
The new Anthology film is expected to hit theaters in 2018
