Director Paul Feig has admitted that he's not sure whether he would change or keep the "Ghostbusters" iconic theme song in his upcoming reboot.

Now i have been a fan of the whole idea of this Ghostbusters film since the beginning. But if they don't keep the original theme song for this film i will be so disappointed.

The catchy 1984 theme song was written and performed by Ray Parker Jr.. It was a huge, skyrocketing to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and clinging to the top spot for three weeks. It even earned Parker an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Son.

Asked by E! News at the SXSW Sunday premiere of his new comedy film "Spy" if the tune will be used in the reboot, Feig said, "We have ways to bring it in that we're playing with, so we'll see."

"It's such an iconic thing that part of you goes, 'I don't want to change it,' but then another part of you wants to update it. It's one of the biggest questions we're faced with."

Listen to the original Ghostbusters theme song in the video below.

Paul Feig's Ghostbusters is due in theaters July 22, 2016.
