One of the riskiest Marvel movies to date is set to open Aug. 1, and now the star, producer and studio exec is here to explain the massive “roll of the dice” that is Guardians of the Galaxy.
Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), director James Gunn and Marvel President Kevin Feige had a lengthy sit-down with AMC as part of a live-stream interview and talked all about Marvel’s ambitious space epic.
Feige called the project a “roll of the dice,” which is an assessment we’d agree with, and said the company is excited to try and make a tentpole sci-fi flick around a comic the average moviegoer has never heard of — much less read:
“We were excited about doing something frankly that most people hadn't heard of...and do something on the other side of the universe and bring these other heroes to life.”
Gunn was also very chatty about his upcoming addition to the Marvel universe, and said it basically plays like a massive “old-school space opera,” but with the “Marvel flavor” still there to tie it all together. If it's as awesome as that sounds, I think we'll all be happy.
