While Marvel movies are packed with humor and light moments but dark moments, DC at least appears to be taking a more serious approach.
Hence the rumors of a “no jokes” mandate that popped up last year. Given that, what kind of tone will the upcoming Suicide Squad movie have?
Speaking with MTV about Suicide Squad, Margot Robbie, who's playing Harley Quinn revealed the tone of Suicide Squad saying:
“I think on a scale of like, ‘Dark Knight’ is here and ‘Avengers’ is here, I think it’s more on the ‘Dark Knight’ side of things,”
But i think dark is good as long as they strike a good balance between light humor and grittiness. Instead of just dark. Suicide Squad does star The Joker after all!
Robbie also said that Harley Quinn will share a lot of scenes with Deadshot and because he is going to be played by her Focus co-star Will Smith they didn't need to do "chemistry reads." Harley will also spend time on screen with her maniacal boyfriend The Joker, and there too Robbie has a rapport with Jared Leto.
Suicide Squad will arrive in theaters Aug. 5, 2016.
