I woke up this morning seriously depressed. Last night, I decided to binge watch the last three episodes of la Casa de Papel, my favourite international series on Netflix. It was a glorious ending (I won’t give any spoilers) which didn’t disappoint, but it left me feeling hollow.
These were the last 3 episodes of limited series, so I knew it was probably over for good.
No more Professor, no more crazy plot twists, no more hilarious Arturo moments (if you watch the series you’ll know what I mean)
It was all over, and I already felt loss of my favourite heist team.
So, this morning, I was depressed when I had my coffee, made breakfast, and brushed my teeth. Then I turned on my computer, and although I tried to fight the urge not to, I decided to look the show up.
I had to know if anyone else was feeling the same as me about the end of this wonderful series.
I guess you can imagine my surprise when the top headline on Google search said: La Casa De Papel (or Money Heist, for us English speakers) is renewed for a part 3!
I seriously almost cried. Almost.
Apparently during after the release of part two, Netflix this week that it has become the most watched non-English series ever on the service (overtaking ‘Dark’ yes!)
Netflix released a video called “Este es un mensaje para resistencia” (“This is a message for the resistance”) on their América Latina account, with some of the show’s cast members telling us that they know we are waiting and announcing that there will be a third part!
Even though it was supposed to be a limited series, we’ve managed to squeeze at least one more part out of Alex Pina (the show’s creator) thanks to our faithful binge-watching!
The anticipated release date for part 3 is sometime next year (2019) so the countdown is on! Now we’re just left with the questions: will our favourite characters be returning? What could be the motivations for the next heist? And will part 3 live up to the expectations set by part 1 & 2?
