Catch a glimpse of Master Splinter in this new TMNT TV spot

While the 2014 MTV Movie Awards and a major ‘Game of Thrones‘ episode were raging on, the first ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles‘ TV spot hit the web, offering up new footage of the turtles in action and our first look at their master, Splinter!

IGN debuted the new footage from the live-action ‘TMNT’ film, directed by Jonathan Liebesman and produced by Michael Bay, which does feature our first look at the mutant, butt-kicking rat, Splinter. That said, we only get a nice look at his backside, glimpsing his sword skills and epic mustache from behind. We do, however, get to see more of the turtles in action, including Raphael.

It was recently announced that Tony Shaloub would voice the character, whom we hear declare, "Nothing is as strong as family." The promo also shows Splinter wielding a sword, which means he may get in on the action too. You can see him at the 12 second mark

We always loved that about the character. He may be old, but he can still kick butt.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles stars Megan Fox, William Fichtner, Pete Ploszek, Noel Fisher, Jeremy Howard and Adam Ritchson. The film opens in theaters Aug. 8.
