Another Arrow villain is headed to the big screen as part of Fury director David Ayer's big supervillain team-up film, Suicide Squad.
A source close to the production of Suicide Squad tells Cinema Blend that onetime Superman candidate Joe Manganiello is a candidate to play Slade "Deathstroke" Wilson, one of the film's antagonists.
Word from their source is that actor Jason Clarke is also being considered for the job, but that it's Manganiello's to lose or turn down, and that "it is an almost certainty that Manganiello has the role."
Latino Review suggests that Deathstroke will sport a tactical US military outfit, but will keep his iconic black and orange mask. His famous sword will also remain very much in play, along with his armament of other killing goodies.
The only other actor to portray Deathstroke on-screen is Arrow’s Manu Bennett. Who portrayed the role perfectly in my opinion. Manu was a fan-favorite in his role of Deathstroke so Manganiello will have big shoes to fill if these rumors turn out to be true. Manganiello’s only other comic book work is Flash Thompson from Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man, though he was once considered for the roles of Superman and Batman.
Suicide Squad is expected to start shooting this month for a release on August 5, 2016.
