It's been four months since the release of one of the most epic movies of - dare I say - the entire century, and let me tell you, fans are not over the pain and suffering Marvel made them go through on the IMAX screens.
After agonizing and mourning over the loss of their beloved characters (not even trying to exaggerate here), fans finally have some ideas on what to expect from Avengers 4 after directors talk about characters in Infinity War.
In a recent interview with Wired, Joe and Anthony Russo talked about every character present in Infinity War and their significance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and their selection of words has fans speculating about... Well, almost everything.
Talking about Chadwick Boseman's Black Panther, the directors had a very peculiar tone that suggested the character's return wasn't just for the sake of resurrection.
"Black Panther has tremendous potential as a character in the Marvel universe," said director Joe Russo, "and I think Wakanda is essential to whatever may happen post-Avengers Infinity War to how the world may deal with what has happened to them."
They even went on to point out that the technology that Wakanda has is valuable to repair the world to moving forward after all the damage Thanos has done.
Even though we already knew that the King of Wakanda was coming back after Marvel confirmed the Black Panther sequel, not everyone agrees that the hero's return is going to be the way most of us expect.
Fans have been worried that T'Challa might be the one to replace Iron Man - which in a way, is great. But fans aren't exactly ready to let go of a character they've been attached to for the past ten years.
Like thrillist.com previously pointed out, Black Panther's return could be a vague reference to how the Marvel Cinematic Universe might continue without Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man.
And with all the stakes held high, fans are scared that Avengers 4 might actually be the end of Iron Man's story!
When talking about Captain America and Black Widow's shared relationship, the Russo Brothers said that they will hold a 'harder edge' in Avengers 4.
"In Winter Soldier, what we found so compelling about pairing her up with Captain America was that he is this paragon of morality, and she is a paragon of gray," the directors said. "But they’ve grown together, and I think when you find them in (Infinity War), they’ve been the Secret Avengers for two years… they’re like a tight-knit family now. Her, Sam Wilson, and Steve Rogers. It’s hardened all of them in a way.
You can’t go on the run without it affecting you emotionally, so I think all of those characters — specifically the ones who survived Infinity War, Cap and Natasha — you will see them with a much, much harder edge."
This of course brings us back to all the fan theories and the leaked Avengers 4 spoilers on Reddit. An anonymous author - that apparently predicted Infinity War right - wrote, "At one point, Cap and Thor fight Thanos. Timeline alterations have restored Mjolnir and Cap wields it against Thanos to allow the others to escape, and is killed holding Thanos off."
Another source predicted that Iron Man might have to be the one to kill Cap, and if that ever happens, I swear I'll unstan Marvel. Not even kidding.
The directors honestly disappointed a lot of fans who wanted to hear about Loki. They kept their words extremely minimal and didn't even try and cover it up.
This however, didn't stop a fans from pointing out the difference between their choices of words when it came to talking about Loki versus Heimdall.
A fan's comment under the Wired's YouTube video pointed out that the directors referred to Heimdall's fate as "sacrificing his life", but Loki's death was referred to as "tragic consequences". The comment also highlighted the fact that the directors' commentary on Loki was suspiciously brief for a character so important.
It's no surprise that not everyone believes Loki is dead. There are more than a dozen popular theories circulating around social media right now, and imagining the possibility of these theories accuracy is actually pretty crazy.
