Does this leaked(?) footage give us our first look at Star Wars: Episode VII?

Remember take this with grain of salt! Some leaked footage allegedly taken from Star Wars: Episode VII popped up online briefly, and it could provide our first peek at J.J. Abrams’ super-secret sequel.

Here’s the story: A cell phone video that claimed to be taken from some early footage of Star Wars: Episode VII — sporting a big ol' Disney watermark — popped up online for a short period of time, then disappeared, with the account linked to the video apparently deleted. It’s worth noting the account was apparently terminated, with the footage not removed directly due to a copyright claim.

Though the footage is gone, Techno Buffalo managed to snag some screen grabs from the clip that shows off some extremely interesting visuals. According to their report, the footage showed “a bearded man in a Jedi cloak [Old Man Skywalker? - Ed] kneeling in some sort of cave or small shrine while another man lingers at the door casting a shadow. We also see some shots of the cloaked figure walking around the island in various spots.”

Best guess? Assuming it’s not a total and complete fake (which is certainly possible), the footage is quite possibly a compilation of test footage put together by Abrams to show the Disney brass. Or, you know, it’s totally fake. The scenes are innocuous enough that they could certainly be real, but there’s no way to know for sure.
