I’ve been been looking forward to The Defenders, the upcoming Marvel Netflix series, since it was announced in December 2013--even before Sigourney Weaver was brought on board. Composed of characters from previous Marvel Netflix series, this show will continue the adventures of the anti-heroes I want to alternatively hug or slap. (Me: “Matt! Don’t lie to Karen about Elektra, Matt!” “Jessica! You may be super-strong, but your liver isn't!”)
We still don’t have a release date for my most-anticipated show of 2017. But we do have some set photos and a teaser.
As we see in the set photos, below, Misty Knight (played by Simone Missick) has a gun, and Jessica Jones (played by Krysten Ritter) isn’t quite succeeding in keeping her blood inside her body.
Meanwhile, the teaser is light on info, but it gives us something to look forward to: Carrie-Anne Moss (Jeryn Hogarth), Elden Henson (Foggy Nelson), and Eka Darville (Malcolm Ducasse) will be joining our heroes in the fight against dark deeds.
The filmed version of The Defenders is not your father’s Marvel Feature #1: Back in 1971, The Defenders was formed by Doctor Strange, along with Sub-Mariner and The Hulk. There’s no Jessica Jones and no Daredevil. But Luke Cage will manage to make the transition from page to small screen.
