After kicking off the Netflix era with a band, Daredevil is back for Season 2 in just a few months. So, what can we expect when the Punisher becomes a part of Matt Murdock’s world?
The team behind the series has remained relatively mum on the topic up to this point, but now series star Charlie Cox has dropped some intel in a new interview with Empire. According to Cox, his character’s relationship with Frank Castle/The Punisher (played by Walking Dead alum Jon Bernthal) is going to be very “complicated.”
Here’s the choice excerpt from Cox:
“It's really complicated. It feels like they're sworn enemies, but at times it feels like they could be best friends and brothers. In order to find common ground, compromise has to be made.”
Hmm, now that’s interesting. We kind of assumed Daredevil and Punisher would be somewhat at odds in the new season, but it sounds like they might actually find some common ground as they try to clean up Hell’s Kitchen in their own (likely, very different) ways. We could see these two at odds for a while, and it's no stretch to think Daredevil could initially see the Punisher as a villain (which, yeah, he kinda is).
Considering the lingering rumors that Daredevil might share a March 25 premiere date with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, it seems the two might also share some similar themes. Though, admittedly, both Daredevil and Punisher fall a little closer to the Batman side of the spectrum (with anti-hero Punisher way beyond that, obviously).
What are you expecting from the new season of Daredevil?
