Bryan Cranston wants to play Mr. Sinister!
At the London Film Festival premiere of his new film Trumbo, Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad, Seinfeld) told the Metro that he wants to play a Marvel supervillain, however, he wanted the "nasty" character created from scratch.
After having a few days to think about it, Cranston had a different response today at New York Comic-Con. A fan asked Cranston who his top Marvel villain choice would be? "It would be Mr. Sinister," Cranston replied during the SuperMansionpanel.
Before he became Mr. Sinister, he was Nathaniel Essex, an ordinary man from the 19th Century with a wife and a son. However, he was obsessed with Charles Darwin's theory on evolution and when his son died he became distant from his pregnant wife and focused his attention on his research which proved that humans were mutating. Though, nobody believed him, not even Darwin. Along the way, he encounters Apocalypse (En Sabah Nur) who is intrigued by his research and offers to give him a longer life, advanced strength, and a healing factor. When his wife goes into premature labor Essex tries to reconcile with his wife, but with her dying breath she tells him that she can't forgive him because he has become sinister. With her dead, Essex takes Apocalypse up on his offer and takes the name ... Mr. Sinister.
Mr. Sinister is an X-Men villain, created by Chris Claremont, and he is the one that created a clone of Jean Grey, Madelyne Pryor, and orchestrated events so that Cyclops would knock her up, producing the ultimate mutant, Cable.
Guess Cranston won't be a part of the MCU. The rights to Mr. Sinister are more than likely in the hands of Fox.
