Rip Hunter has been cast in the forthcoming The Flash/Arrow team-up spinoff, reports KSite TV. The role goes to Arthur Darvill, best known for his portrayal of Rory Williams in Doctor Who.
Time Traveler Rip Hunter he’s an inventor, time traveler and martial arts expert who’s a little more rough and ready than we’d normally expect from Darvill. The CW describes Rip Hunter as "a roguish time traveler who hides the strains of being responsible for history itself behind a facade of charm and wit." Now that's a man who likes to time travel.
Rip Hunter in the comics is the son of Justice League member Booster Gold. Rip Hunter is generally credited with the invention of technologically-powered time travel in the DC Universe. There’s a long comic book history there if you fancy some research.
Also joining the cast is Broadway-based actress Ciara Renée. Renée who just made her TV debut last year on Law & Order: SVU, has landed the role of Kendra Saunders AKA Hawkgirl, which the report characterizes as a lead.
She's described as "a young woman who is just beginning to learn that she has been repeatedly reincarnated over the centuries.”
“When provoked, her ancient warrior persona manifests itself, along with wings that grow out of her back, earning her the moniker Hawkgirl."
They will join Brandon Routh, Caity Lotz, Wentworth Miller, Victor Garber and Dominic Purcell in the cast.
