Two Star Wars fans have sent an X-Wing into space in the hopes of getting director J.J. Abrams and tickets to the VIP premiere of The Force Awakens.

Members of Project Helium Tears, Matt Kingsnorth and Phil St. Pier attached a model of an X-Wing to high altitude balloons and filmed it with a GoPro.

Their ingenious experiment attained an altitude of 36,190 meters, with the X-Wing model soaring to the blackened edge of space. A personal note to director J.J. Abrams was tacked on to the end of the video sample, pleading their case to snag a coveted pair of premiere tickets.

Check out their stunning video below:

The video is spectacular. And i do hope they get those tickets! What do you think? Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens in theaters December 18, 2015.
