Gwen Stacy saves Spider-Man in The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Not exactly known for her super powers or ability to construct complicated gadgets from household items, it looks as though Gwen Stacy may have to step up to save the day in 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2'. Or at least, save Peter Parker.

In an interview with Total Film, Emma Stone explains how the tables have turned on Gwen and Peter's relationship… and that Gwen Stacy saves him more than he saves her.

Asked how many times Sipder-Man saves her in 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2', Emma Stone revealed that it's really not that much…

"Not many," she said. "I can think of one important instance."

"She saves him more than he saves her," she explained... though it's unclear whether Gwen will phsycially save him, or it's more of an emotional thing. "She's incredibly helpful to Spider-Man… He's the muscle, she's the brains."

Of course, it's an interesting twist on a dynamic that saw Kirsten Dunst as the damsel in distress during Sam Raimi's 'Spider-Man' movies. But I'm not sure how well this comment will sit with fans of the comic books. After all, Peter Parker has been established as a bit of a boy genius - especially after he single-handedly created his own webbing in the first reboot. To think of him as 'the muscle' just doesn't seem right…

"I don't get to do too many crazy stunts," Stone added. "She gets herself in the middle of stuff, that's for sure! I do get webbed to a car. There's sh*t like that."

But will we see Gwen plunge off the side of any bridges anytime soon? After hints that we may see the death of Gwen Stacey in 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' I'm just not sure. But one thing's for certain - if she does die during the Spider-Man sequel, I suppose he wasn't that good at saving her after all.
